Salt Water Ascension
Description:
An exhilarating capture of weightlessness and fluid motion. This original graphite and charcoal study, part of a series derived from video stills filmed at the Dead Sea, explores the moment the human body breaks free from gravity.
In this composition, the dancers are rendered with a sense of urgent, upward energy, their forms reflecting the distortion and brilliance of the salt-saturated light. Drawn on toned A5 paper, the work utilizes the natural warmth of the background to highlight the muscular tension and grace of the performers as they "ascend" from the reflective waters. It is a study of the body not just as form, but as pure energy in dialogue with a unique, ancient landscape.
