Saline Invocation
A powerful study of ritualistic movement and aspiration. This original graphite and charcoal drawing, the final piece in the series derived from video stills filmed at the Dead Sea, focuses on the elongation of the human form against the vast, reflective landscape.
The dancers are captured in a moment of synchronized reaching, their arms extended upward in a gesture that suggests both prayer and physical release. Drawn on toned A5 paper, the work utilizes the natural warmth of the background to highlight the grace and determination of the silhouettes as they interact with the unique atmosphere of the saline environment. It is a meditation on the human spirit’s constant search for elevation, even in the lowest place on earth.
